EMA6808 - Error Analysis & Optimization Methodologies in Materials Research


  • Course Description: Statistical approach to materials research, basic and relevant statistical concepts, error analysis, factorial matrices, reducing variance, nested designs and sampling plans, mixture designs, optimization techniques, response surface method, and Taguchi method. (3 Credit Hours)
  • Course Objectives: At the end of the course the students should be familiar with the most important methods for error analysis and for design of experiments in MSE. In addition, the course will provide students with a number of tools for planning the experiments forming part of their Ph.D. research, as well as for analyzing and reporting the results obtained.
